Parents' Influence on Children
Parental influenceon children is most important one as they spend more time with their children compared with other members of the family and their friends. There are more positive influences than negative ones.
Nowadays, in most families both parents are working because of high cost of living. They need to help each other to provide the best quality of life for their children. In view of this, parents should organize their time to take care of their children and influence them in a positive way and teach them to become better citizens in their society.
To begin with, parents express their love for their children. This can influence children's psychology. It builds a sense of pride of their parents and they like to follow them as role models. Boys feel proud to be like their fathers and girls are glad to be like their mothers. They always teach their kids about what is right and wrong in their social life and how to behave with people.
Parents play a very big role in developing their children's personalities especially in the first seven years. They teach them respect and discipline so that they can act in positive way without a lot of aid from parents. Also, they help them to be prominent people by allowing them to participate in activities inside and outside school. They help them to take up tasks. All these thingsare achieved by knowing the children's academic strengths and weaknesses by working with them and helping them in skills they are lacking in education. This positive help will enrich the whole family.
Another thing that parents provide is a secure environment for proper development of children. This can be very useful for the society as a whole. They can keep them away from drugs, smoking and other bad habits. They help them to solve problems they face in their life especially with their friends.
The closer relationships with the family members have positive influences and this benefits them in their future life. They give them lessons for the future and how to be successful in family relationships. Parents can influence children to believe in God. It has been said that how a child views his father can be correlated to how he believes in God.
Sometimes, the influence of parents on children can be negative. If they control their life, they might not feel comfortable. They want some freedom in their choices and lifestyle. This control causes them to miss out on the chance to experience and express themselves as individuals without parents' power. If parents could not organize their time between their work and care for children, this might be dangerous for these kids to have more freedom to do whatever they want to do without any supervision.
